The original ensemble was formed in San Francisco, California in the United States in September of 2002. SambAsia in San Francisco was founded by Jimmy Biala with the idea to build cultural bridges between the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. This was accomplished by combining Brazilian drumming with music and dance traditions from Asia. |
